At the start of each year, people make resolutions about some major things they want to fix. And each year, these resolutions go unresolved. Everyone starts the year off with the ideal that they want to be better than the year before, but very rarely does that happen. Most people want to be better, but they just don't even know where to begin that process. So, I'm going to give you a good place to start.
To begin the new year, rather than start with a resolution to fix a few things, try something different this year. Start by trying to love yourself to the fullest. By learning to love yourself to the fullest you will be a better version of yourself. Each and every single day make a pledge to love yourself, treat yourself with respect, kindness, and remember to live and not just exist. Let yourself enjoy life. Enjoy life by making your life meaningful. Don't just coast through life anymore. Build a life full of happiness. Start by finding things that make you excited to get out of bed everyday. Don't vow to lose weight, or quit smoking. Instead, vow to only do things that make you feel good. Stop doing things that make you feel unhappy, unhealthy, and empty. Love yourself, by only choosing things that make your life positive, and let go of all the things that don't. Start the year with," What have I always wanted to do? ". Then ask yourself, "What do I no longer want to do?". Make a decision to be better, by living better. Don't start with a resolution this year, instead ask yourself "How can I start to love my life more?"
So many people have the disconnect between their personal life and their work life. Many times people believe that they can not be their true self in the workplace. There is the work personality and then the after work personality. Because of this disconnection of self, most people feel unhappy. Using your voice, and being yourself is often frowned upon in Corporate America, and so there are millions of unhappy people that never feel at peace with themselves while at work. Does it need to be this way? The answer is no.
How can we begin to use our own authentic voice while in the workplace? Well.. it all starts with just being who you are when no one is watching. In order to feel fulfilled in life, you must have both happiness and peace in all areas of your life including your work life. A person must begin to use their voice by being true to their thoughts and feelings, then having their words and actions to match those feelings. When you are not matching your actions with your feelings, you are rejecting yourself. The rejection of self brings about depression, which can then lead to other self destructive behaviors, which so many people tend to manage in order to recieve a paycheck.. So is the depression worth the paycheck?
A paycheck is never worth the money or the negative patterns that come along with it. Choose to be who you are and speak your truths regardless of where you are. If the place that you are does not accept that, it is not the place for you. If the people in the room don't like what you have to say, find a different room. There are tons of rooms in this world that want to hear what you have to say, so keep searching until you find the room that loves your true voice. Choose to happy, not the paycheck.
