The negative behaviors that we hold on to, are what keeps our ego in check and feeling safe. Once we try something new or try to get out of our old ways, fear kicks in. Our ego has a way of pushing fear to the front of our thinking at this time. The fear can begin to take over your brain, and not allow you to move forward. The negative behaviors come streaming back when this is happening, in order to make you feel safe. When this happens, you have to remind yourself that if you give in to fear, you will continue to be a prisoner of your past. Our old ways may be a safety net, but will continue to keep us stuck. By letting go of them, you allow yourself to have a new form of reality that can be much better. Changes take time and practice. Letting go should be done in steps, so fear can be managed as you move toward your new center. But moving forward can only be done, if you let go. What the mind fears the most, is usually when you should let go.
